How do we even do it all???

Juggling Motherhood, Work, Home, and Writing Dreams

People always ask me, “When do you even find the time to write?” The truth? I don’t have the time—I make it, usually in the cracks of a day that already feels impossibly full.

Motherhood alone is a full-time job. Add in a full-time career, and the hours blur into an endless to-do list: school drop-offs and pick-ups, homework battles, school events where I’m cheering from the bleachers or clapping in the audience, work meetings that pile up on my calendar, deadlines that creep closer, and emails that seem to breed overnight. And that’s before I even mention the never-ending tasks of maintaining a home—laundry, dishes, meals, cleaning, bills, and the never-ending reminder that socks do, in fact, multiply when left unsupervised.

And yet…in the middle of all that, I still chase stories. Writing isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s my safe space, my release, and the one corner of my life that’s purely mine. I might not have the luxury of long, uninterrupted hours, but I’ve learned that creativity doesn’t demand perfection, it demands presence. Sometimes that means scribbling ideas in the car line, writing dialogue during a lunch break, or typing furiously while dinner simmers on the stove. I’ve written chapters in ten stolen minutes, and sometimes those are the words that carry the most heart.

Of course, none of this would even be possible without my husband. I’m endlessly grateful for the help and balance he brings—whether it’s stepping in with school projects, cooking dinner when my brain is fried, or simply encouraging me to sit down and write when I feel pulled in a hundred directions. He’s my teammate in every sense of the word, and I never take that for granted.

Some days, it feels like I’m juggling too many balls and a few crash to the ground. Other days, I surprise myself by how much actually gets done. But through it all, I remind myself of the why: I want my son to see that passion matters. That even when life is busy, messy, and overwhelming, it’s still worth carving out space for the things that light your soul on fire.

So if you’re out there, raising kids, working full-time, keeping a home afloat, showing up for school events, and still trying to write—you’re not alone. We’re the storytellers who write in the margins of life. And those stories, born from chaos and love, are just as valid and powerful as the ones written in quiet rooms and endless hours. Maybe even more so.

✨ I’d love to hear from you—how do you juggle the chaos of daily life while still making time for the things you love? Share your thoughts in the comments below so we can cheer each other on.
